Ben Potter on the Gems of Devonport

Ben Potter was raised on the North Shore, never left - and knows exactly why.

Now based in Devonport and working alongside his father Gary at Harcourts, Ben has spent 30 years building a deep-rooted connection to this corner of Auckland. He knows these streets, these beaches and these neighbourhoods better than most, and his clients are better off for it.

We asked him to share a few of his favourite local spots.

What do you love most about living on the North Shore? The people, the beach and the lifestyle. Simple as that.

Your go-to coffee spot? And what's your order? Chiasso in Devonport — flat white, strong. No messing around.

Best hidden gem people might not know about? The view of the city from the top of Takarunga Mt. Victoria. It's right there, it's free, and it never gets old.

Favourite spot to eat or grab a drink right now? Lily's in Devonport is the one for me right now.

Favourite local walk or beach? At low tide, walking from Narrow Neck Beach to Takapuna Beach. It's one of those walks that reminds you exactly why you live here.

Best place to take kids? The North Shore is genuinely spoilt for playgrounds, any one of them will do the trick.

Best beach? Cheltenham Beach for a private, relaxing swim. Beautiful and never overcrowded.
