About

The Drift is inspired by where we live
where the coastline curves, the tide moves slowly, and life feels just a little more connected.

It’s about the flow of things.
People, places, ideas... all drifting together to shape a community.

From the city to the shore, this is where stories surface.
Where locals are doing interesting things.
Where everyday moments feel worth sharing.

We keep it thoughtful, not overdone.
Contemporary, but grounded.
Curated, but never exclusive.

Because being part of a community isn’t complicated, it’s about knowing what’s around you, and who’s in it.

Get the drift?!

I've spent much of my 20-year career as editor, publisher, journalist, and content creator for some of New Zealand's largest lifestyle magazines and websites: telling stories, shaping brands, and creating things people genuinely want to read and be part of. The Drift brings all of that together, in a way that feels more personal.

My husband Tim and I live in Birkenhead on Auckland's inner North Shore, having moved our young family here nearly seven years ago, from inner-city Auckland. We love the community and its quiet creativity, energy, and wonderful people doing their own thing, often under the radar.

The Drift is intentionally local. We're not trying to be everything to everyone, but deeply meaningful to the people who call this place home. It's built around the stories, faces, and experiences that make this corner of Auckland worth paying attention to.

The Drift is as much about the people in it as the stories we tell.
If you have something to say or a story worth sharing, we'd love to hear from you. Reach out at hello@thedrift.co.nz
