Radio host, mum, netball coach – Toni Street lives her best life on the Shore.
You’ll know her voice from Coast Breakfast radio, where she kicks off mornings across New Zealand. But off air, she’s coaching netball at Belmont Intermediate and Swish Netball Club, walking her cavoodle, Bear, to the beach, and wrangling three kids alongside husband Matt.
She also runs her own Confident Communication business, helping professionals perform under pressure, because apparently fitting all of that into one life wasn’t enough.
We are so thankful for Toni to take some time to let The Drift in on her North Shore faves.
What do you love most about living on the North Shore?
I love the tight knit community, the beaches, and the laid back vibe.
Your go-to coffee spot?
Win The Day, where I’ll order a small cappuccino!

A local place you keep going back to, and why?
Honey Cafe in Takapuna. They have the best chicken salad with kūmara chips and halloumi, it is to die for.
What’s your idea of a perfect day on the Shore?
A walk to Narrow Neck beach, coffee or brunch at the beach café, a swim in summer. Then a spot of shopping at Milford Centre, followed by a casual dinner at Takapuna Beach Cafe or Japanese at Kyoya.

Best hidden gem people might not know about?
Rolling Dough bakery in Belmont. The owners are lovely and the chicken and cranberry pies are amazing.
Favourite spot to eat or grab a drink right now?
Honey Cafe in Takapuna for lunch, Takapuna Beach Cafe for dinner.
What are you currently loving?
I went to MC Tiles in Albany and had the best service from a woman called Lorry. It was so refreshing. I’m also loving Chobani vanilla protein yoghurt pouches, so good after the gym!
Favourite local walk or beach?
It’s got to be the Takapuna to Milford beach walk around the rocks.
Where do you go to switch off?
Narrow Neck beach. It’s the place where I go to ‘switch off’ and it has so much going for it. Lovely beach, rock pools, basketball court, café.

Best place to take visitors and/or kids?
Takapuna beach and café. Or the Takapuna playground and then Kyoya for dinner (they have a great kids’ menu!)
